Mary Connor, CAE
President, SMG Consulting, LLC
With a wealth of over two decades in association management, serving as Executive Director for national and international associations, Mary offers her expertise to a diverse clientele through executive-level consulting. Joining Stringfellow Management Group in 2019, she currently holds the position of VP of Client Relations. In this role, Mary adeptly overseas business development endeavors and facilitates the smooth onboarding of new clients. Her professional journey includes the founding of an AMC in 1991, under which she successfully managed multiple national and regional trade associations. Beyond this accomplishment, she ventured into a partnership with a marketing and visual communications firm serving Fortune 500 companies, and producing documentaries and high-end visual content. Holding credentials as a Certified Association Executive, and a Six Sigma Lean/DFSS green belt, Mary's commitment to professional excellence is evident. Her affiliations include the (AMCI) Institute, American Society of Association Executives, and the American Society for Quality.
Fred Stringfellow, CAE
Founder and President, Stringfellow Management Group
Fred embarked on his journey in association management back in 1992, initially aligning himself with a Washington, DC-based AMC, followed by a Baltimore-based AMC, where he assumed the role of Executive Director for multiple national trade associations. Fred’s extensive and diverse experience uniquely positions him to deliver exceptional consulting services. In the year 2000, he cofounded an AMC and in 2012, he founded Stringfellow Management Group as its successor entity, where he is President and CEO. Throughout his career, Fred has assumed various prominent leadership roles within the industry. Notably, he has served as the chairman of the board for the AMC Institute and held a position on the Board of Directors for the tennis industry Association. Presently, Fred remains an active participant on the AMC key committee of ASAE and also contributes to the ASAE’s Association inside center steering committee. Fred is the CEO for SMG clients: the American Sports Builders Association and the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America.
